Here’s a selection of books I have edited or proofread. A fair portion of my time involves editing books translated from Danish to English, and I work closely with respected translator Sinéad Quirke Køngerskov. We have worked together on a variety of genres including Teen, Young Adult, Crime Fiction, Historical, World War II, Norse Mythology, and Mind, Body and Spirit. Below is a small sample of the books I have edited.
Translated Novels
As well as copyediting/proof-editing Sinéad’s translations, I also proofread novels for the Danish publishers SAGA EGMONT whose parent company is Lindhardt & Ringhof. These tend to fall into the categories of crime and political thrillers, although not exclusively. I’m currently working on a Viking trilogy, a saga filled with guile, gore, betrayal and redemption set against the backdrop of Norse mythology. Other publishing houses I have worked for include Structo Press. I proofread the novel, Wolfskin by Lana Moreno, a work of literary fiction translated from the original Spanish.
Crime Fiction and Political Thrillers
The Nordic Noir genre is becoming ever more popular among the reading and viewing public. As a result, publishers are looking at translating the back catalogue of the more famous Scandinavian authors to reach a wider audience. Below are some well-known authors whose translated works I have proofread and/or edited. Niels Krause-Klær is the author of a series of gripping thrillers set in and around Denmark’s parliament, Christiansborg Palace. Inger Gammelgaard Madsen is the author of 43 books, including the Inspector Roland Benito series, and Cecilia Sahlström is a former police officer, who brings her forensic knowledge of police procedure to her crime novels set in Sweden.
Independently Published
I’m also keen to work with self-publishers. It can feel like a journey we are going on together and is more collaborative than, for example, working on the final proofread of a novel by an established author. Below is a selection of books where I’ve worked with the author to realise the long-held dream of turning their manuscript into a published book.
Non-fiction
Finally, I have worked on a large range of non-fiction books – from allergies to automobiles, coffee shops to cooking, mindfulness to brainteasers. Here’s a small sample of the diverse range of books I’ve edited or proofread. It’s a rich tapestry, and I’m always ready to tread new, unchartered territories.
